Filmmaker Best Known for Web Series "Brown Girls"

Sam Q. Bailey is a filmmaker, film producer, director, and screenwriter, best known for directing the web series Brown Girls.

In 2016, she directed and starred in a web series entitled You're So Talented. The series is about a woman named Bea, an out-of-work Chicago artist who navigates her twenties and all its inevitable dramas. That same year, Sam was included on NewCity's Film 50 list.

She also directed Brown Girls, a comedy series revolved around the friendship of two women of color: Leila, a South Asian-American writer who opens up about her queerness, and Patricia, a sex-positive Black-American musician who has commitment issues. The first episode of the show premiered in February 2017, and the series as a whole was nominated for an Emmy in Outstanding Short-Form Comedy or Drama Series-2017.

In November 2017, Bailey and co-creator of Brown Girls Fatimah Asghar were recognized in the Forbes 30 Under 30 as one of their 'Hollywood & Entertainment' selections.

Sam's work has been reviewed and featured on many platforms including Elle, W Magazine, Fox News, and Out Magazine.
