Helping couples improve their intimacy to achieve extraordinary sex has been Dr. Sandra Scantling's passion for more than 20 years, founded on a sound medical basis and extensive experience. Currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Scantling is an AASECT certified sex therapist, a clinical specialist in psychiatric nursing, an advanced practice registered nurse, and a licensed clinical psychologist.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Scantling has lectured in Human Sexuality at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and has been a full time sex therapist in private practice in Farmington, Connecticut. She is a graduate of Boston University, Indiana University, and Antioch New England Graduate School, and completed a doctoral fellowship and advanced sex therapy training at Yale University.

Until 1987, Dr. Scantling was Director of Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Treatment Center and then directed the Grove Hill Sexual Evaluation and Treatment Service. She is currently the Director of the Farmington Psychotherapy Center in Farmington, Connecticut, where she is in private practice. Dr. Scantling writes the "SexHealth" column for the Connecticut Psychologist and is regularly quoted in popular magazines and professional publications. She created the sexuality content as the media spokesperson and intimacy expert for Drugstore.com; she is currently the intimacy expert for Power-surge.com and the relationship expert for WTIC 1080 AM talk radio's "Connecticut Today" show.

Dr. Scantling is the recipient of the Connecticut Psychological Association's award for "Distinguished Contribution to the Science of Psychology" and was honored by SIECCONN (Sex Information and Education Council of Connecticut) as "Sex Educator of The Year." She is the author of Extraordinary Sex Now: A Couple's Guide to Intimacy, co-author of Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Sex, and creator of the phenomenally successful video series "Ordinary Couples, Extraordinary Sex," which has sold over a million copies worldwide. She is also a contributor to The Most Important Things I Know About Love and The Most Important Things I Know About Friendship, Family, Love, Faith, and Kindness.

Widely quoted in numerous magazines including Cosmopolitan and New Woman, Dr. Scantling has appeared nationally and internationally as an intimacy and relationship expert on television shows including "Today," "Good Morning America," "The View," the BBC, and "The Early Show." Through workshops and couples seminars, and lecture tours throughout the United States on topics of sexuality, intimacy and related subjects, Dr. Scantling has a developed a reputation as one of the most enlightened and knowledgeable experts in the field of human sexual relations.
