Sara Spiering is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office and a member of the Global Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officers practices. She focuses on searches for non-executive directors, non-executive and executive chairmen and CEOs, CEO and board succession planning, and corporate governance consulting engagements. Sara has completed more than 200 non-executive director searches. She joined Heidrick & Struggles in 2009, having spent four years practicing management-focused employment law and commercial litigation at a Wisconsin law firm.

Along with her client work, Sara previously led the Board and Chief Executive Officers practices’ internal professional development and mentoring initiatives as lead engagement manager. She has served on the Ambassadors Board of the Chicago Children’s Choirs and was selected as a Heidrick & Struggles delegate to represent the firm at the 2014 Fortune’s Next Generation: Most Powerful Women Summit.

Sara earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin, where she served as an editor of Wisconsin Law Review, and her bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
