Sarah Barmak    

Journalist

Sarah Barmak is a journalist and author known for her book Closer: Notes From the Orgasmic Frontier of Female Sexuality. It was named one of the Best Books of 2016 by four different Canadian media organizations. Barnak also writes for The Walrus magazine. Her 2018 cover story about consent and #MeToo was shortlisted for the Allan Slaight Prize. Barmak is also a contributor for The Hairpin, Maclean's, The Toronto Star, and New York Magazine's "The Cut".

Barmak teaches at The Fellowship in Global Journalism at The University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. In 2019, she gave a TED talk called "The uncomplicated truth about women's sexuality". She also teaches a workshop called "The Sex Myth Detox", and is researching a new book about sexual consent.
