Sarah Richardson

Designer; HGTV Personality

Sarah Richardson has been a key fixture of the Canadian design world since starting out in 1995, working behind the scenes as a prop stylist and set decorator. By the late 90’s, she realized that she could carve a niche in the emerging world of design TV by sharing her practical, endearing and inspiring approach to décor and design with viewers. She launched her first TV series for HGTV in 2000, "Room Service." Seventeen years later, Richardson is the host, co-creator and co-producer of over 250 episodes of design television that span seven hit HGTV series targeted directly to the needs of a contemporary audience. "Room Service," "Design Inc.," "Sarah’s House," "Sarah’s Cottage," "Sarah’s Rental Cottage," "Sarah 101," and "Real Potential" are a collection of lifestyle television series dedicated to tackling the demands and design challenges of modern living.

In addition to creating groundbreaking television, her bustling design business, Sarah Richardson Design Inc. has been in operation since 1998 and specializes in servicing residential clients in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. The work created by Richardson and her team is regularly featured in design publications on both sides of the border including Chatelaine, House and Home, Style at Home, Country Living, HGTV Magazine, Lonny, Renovation Style, Kitchens and Baths, and Good Housekeeping.

Richardson is partnered with top tier international brands to deliver stylish products bearing the Sarah Richardson label to consumers. In 2013, Kravet Fabrics launched the Sarah Richardson fabric collection, available worldwide through Kravet showrooms and their distributors. Her second collection launched in 2016. She also works with Acco to bring her inimitable eye for pattern to paper products such as gift cards, stationary, gift wrap, note cards, journals and calendars. In 2015, Richardson expanded her product offering and launched her own collection of home textiles, including bedding, accent pillows, throw blankets, table linens, drapery and kitchen linens.

Richardson is the author of two bestselling books for international powerhouse publisher, Simon & Schuster. "Sarah Style" was published in November 2014 and "At Home: Sarah Style" was published in November 2015. In addition to being a past contributor for The Globe and Mail and Chatelaine, Sarah was Home Design Director for Good Housekeeping Magazine for Hearst Corporation.

Sarah holds a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
