American blues singer-songwriter Sawyer Fredericks, originally from a farm in central New York, began his musical journey at just 13, performing at local farmers markets, open mics, and iconic venues throughout the state. His deep, mature original lyrics, melodies, soulful vocals, and powerful live performances eventually propelled him into the national spotlight. Fredericks participated in the 8th season of NBC's "The Voice" in 2015. After a series of impressive performances, including a memorable blind audition with "I'm a Man of Constant Sorrow," he rose to victory, becoming the youngest person to win the competition at the age of 16.
Following his win on "The Voice," Fredericks signed a recording contract with Republic Records and released his major label debut, "A Good Storm," in May 2016. This album, all self or co-written, showcased a blend of soulful folk, blues, and rock, achieved a #2 spot on the Billboard Folk chart, and was supported by a 49-show US tour. His second LP, "Hide Your Ghost," was released in March 2018, entirely written and produced by Fredericks himself. He decided to take a more independent approach to this project, focusing on an honest, stripped-down style that stayed true to his roots.
In May 2020, Fredericks released his fourth album, "Flowers For You," receiving critical acclaim and attention from People Magazine, American Songwriter, and Billboard. The album also made its mark on No Depression Readers’ 50 Favorite Roots Music Albums of 2020. Two songs from this album, "Born" and "Amen," won top awards from the 18th annual Independent Music Awards in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter and Social Action Song categories. The song "Born" also gained rotation on SiriusXM’s Coffee House channel and was included in Amazon Music's editorial 'Fresh Folk and Americana' playlist. Fredericks continued to make waves on the Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200, Rock Albums, and Canadian Albums charts. As of 2022, Fredericks continues to tour the country, supporting various charitable causes along the way, and publicly identifies as a bisexual artist.
