Schuyler Bailar

Inclusion Advocate & First Transgender Athlete on an NCAA Division 1 Men’s Team

Schuyler Bailar (he/him) is an educator, author, and activist who made history as the first transgender athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA Division I men’s team. Originally recruited to swim for the Harvard women’s team, Bailar made the difficult choice to transition while potentially giving up the prospect of being an NCAA Champion.

Bailar's story has appeared everywhere from "60 Minutes" to The Washington Post. He has amassed over half a million social media followers and hosts the hit culture and gender podcast "Dear Schuyler." He is also the creator of LaneChanger.com, an online learning series that makes gender literacy education accessible to every team, school, and company. The series is used by industry giants like General Mills and organizations like the NCAA. Additionally, Bailar authored the middle-grade novel, “Obie Is Man Enough,” a coming-of-age book about a young trans person, and "He/She/They: How We Talk About Gender and Why it Matters."

Bailar’s tireless advocacy for the trans community has earned him numerous honors, including LGBTQ Nation’s Instagram Advocate for 2020 and being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Local - Boston list in 2023.

Bailar is available in partnership with Collective Speakers.
