Scott Detrow

Political Correspondent for NPR & Host of the NPR 'All Things Considered' Podcast

Scott Detrow is the weekend host of All Things Considered, and a co-host of the Consider This podcast. In this role Detrow also contributes to the weekday All Things Considered broadcasts, and regularly hosts NPR's live special coverage of major news stories.

Detrow joined NPR in 2015, and spent the next eight years covering national politics. He covered the White House, Congress and two presidential campaigns, and co-hosted The NPR Politics Podcast, which he helped launch and grow into a daily news show. He also reported from Ukraine in the early months of the war there. In 2021, he reported an hour-long documentary looking back at the legacy of Flight 93, the plane that crashed in a Pennsylvania field on September 11, 2001.

Before NPR, Detrow worked as a statehouse reporter in both Pennsylvania and California, for member stations WITF and KQED. He also covered energy policy for NPR's StateImpact project, where his reports on Pennsylvania's hydraulic fracturing boom won a DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton and national Edward R. Murrow Award in 2013.

Detrow got his start in public radio at Fordham University's WFUV. He graduated from Fordham, and also has a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Fels Institute of Government.
