Scott Jacobs
Founder and CEO Kenon Capital
Scott Jacobs is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Kenon Capital, an asset management firm addressing the risks and opportunities incumbent in natural resource scarcity. Kenon’s birth is the result of Scott’s work advising investors on longer time horizon, theme-based investing. Scott leads Kenon’s overall strategy, team-building, external networks, and research, bringing an innovation orientation to investment opportunities across the world’s critical resource value chains.
Prior to founding Kenon, Scott co-founded McKinsey & Company’s global CleanTech practice in 2007, creating the fastestgrowing practice in the firm’s history, with several hundred engagements per year across industrial, energy, technology, public sector and institutional investor clients. Scott has worked with both innovators and market incumbents to build new resource productivityrelated businesses, and he also advised leading institutional investors. In addition, Scott has been advising several national and regional governments around the world on “green growth” and innovation cluster strategies. Scott is a frequent guest speaker on these topics at premier industry fora, such as Fortune Brainstorm Green, the Cleantech Venture Forum, the Harvard Business and Environment Conference, and the Family Office Circle.
Scott received his MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was named a George F. Baker Scholar, and his BA cum laude from Dartmouth College. As an undergraduate, he was a member of Dr. Robert Putnam’s research team at Harvard and contributed to the publication of Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community. Scott helped form the Energy Free Home Foundation and the Carbon War Room, and founded two not for-profit organizations, Young Leaders in Action and The Ivy Council, which focus on youth leadership development. He lives in San Francisco, enjoys a range of outdoor activities and frequents the local farmers’ markets on weekends.
