Scott Servais
Coach for the San Diego Padres & Olympic Gold Medalist, Former Manager of the Seattle Mariners & MLB Catcher
Scott Servais, a distinguished figure in Major League Baseball, holds a career that spans multiple roles such as player, coach, and executive. As a player, he donned the roles of a catcher for teams like the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Colorado Rockies. He represented the United States national baseball team, securing a gold medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and winning medals in the 1987 Pan American Games and the 1987 Intercontinental Cup.
Transitioning from the field to the managerial side, Servais served as the manager of the Seattle Mariners from 2016 to 2024, following his stints as the assistant general manager for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and director of player development for the Texas Rangers. Under his leadership, the Mariners accomplished their best season since 2003 in 2021, finishing with a 90–72 record. This achievement further led him to place second in the American League Manager of the Year Award voting in 2021.
Another highlight of Servais's tenure with the Mariners was leading the team to the 2022 MLB playoffs, marking their first playoff appearance in 21 years. The Mariners also won their first playoff series in 21 years in 2022 by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Wild Card Series, making Servais the second manager in Seattle Mariners history to lead the team to the playoffs. Despite his significant achievements, Servais's managerial role with the Mariners ended in August 2024 due to a midseason downfall and the team's slide in the AL West standings.
