Retired Three-Time All-Star First Baseman

Sean Casey was a three-time All-Star who has always been beloved in baseball circles for his colorful personality and fan-friendly nature. He is a Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer and best remembered for his eight seasons with that franchise. For his career, Casey hit .302. The Cleveland Indians originally selected him in the second round of the 1995 MLB Draft. Casey would debut with the Indians on their American League pennant winning team in 1997, but was blocked at first base by Jim Thome and traded to Cincinnati in the offseason. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox following his tenure with the Reds. Casey grew up in Pittsburgh and attended the University of Richmond. He is a member of that school’s athletics Hall of Fame and hit a Division 1 leading .461 during his final season with the Spiders.
