Consul & Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada

Sebastien D. Roy was assigned to the Consulate General of Canada in Detroit in September 2014 as Consul and Trade Commissioner covering the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

In his role, he assists US based companies with their investment and expansion projects in Canada by providing sources of strategic market intelligence, key government & investment professionals contacts engaged to support investment projects, information and advice on sector-specific programs available in Canada, and facilitation of site visits. Sebastien also promotes R&D partnerships across the border, recognizing that these are an essential catalyst for science and technological innovation that often accelerates the pace of discovery and result in improved commercialization for both Canadian and US companies.

Sebastien joined the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development in 2000. Most recently, he served in Kabul, Afghanistan as First Secretary and Consul (Consular/Management). From 2010 to 2013, he worked as a Director within the Inspection and Special Investigation Divisions, reviewing program performance in the entire network of Canadian Missions abroad and providing recommendations for improvements. Prior to that, Sebastien occupied management positions in in the Canadian passport security & integrity program, and also worked in the fields of project management and business analysis.
