Selika Talbott is a pioneering figure in the realm of transportation strategy and policy, serving as the Founder and CEO of Autonomous Vehicle Consulting. With a diverse background spanning legal practice, government administration, and strategic advisory roles, Talbott has emerged as a leading voice advocating for responsible investment and engagement in the era of New Mobility.
Deeply invested in shaping the future of mobility, Talbott leverages her expertise to advise startups, manufacturers, and regulators on navigating the evolving landscape of autonomous and electric vehicles. Furthermore, her involvement in organizations such as PAVE's Academic Advisory Council and the Underwriters Laboratory Standards Technical Panel underscores her commitment to advancing equitable transportation networks. With over 18 years of experience and a relentless dedication to the principle that "Transportation is Mobility and Mobility is Freedomâ„¢," Talbott continues to be a driving force in shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking transportation industry; as a speaker, she engages audiences on topics ranging from transportation technology to policy innovation.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY at Stony Brook and a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra Law School, Talbott spent her early career navigating the complexities of litigation in New York City, where she represented a range of clients, from international fast-food chains to vehicle manufacturers, in product liability defense cases. Transitioning into public service, she assumed the role of Deputy Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission for the State of New Jersey, where she oversaw a substantial staff and budget, implementing critical reforms and modernizing various agency programs. Talbott later served as the Senior Advisor to the Administrator at the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In this capacity, she managed executive office operations and fostered collaboration with federal and international agencies, demonstrating her adeptness at navigating complex regulatory environments.
Talbott's commitment to professional development is evident in her pursuit of certifications in Federal Executive Leadership from American University, and Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. She has held an adjunct position at the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy and wrote a children's book, "Sammie and Sally Move Around Town," about an African American brother and sister and how they move around their community.
