Mr. Tigipko graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute with a degree of an engineer metallurgist. Doctorate in Economics.

During his career he was working in both government and business sectors. Since 1992 – CEO at Pryvatbank. In 1997 – Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine on the economy issues. Since 1999 – Minsiter of Economy of Ukraine. In 2000 he was elected MP. In 2002 became the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine. Since 2005 - Chairman of the board at the TAS financial and industrial group. In 2007 CEO at Swedbank.

On the June 16, 2009 he resigned from all posts to concentrate on political carrier. On January 17, 2010 he was the third in the Ukrainian president elections. In 2010 he was appointed Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine. On December 9, 2010 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine was appointed as the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.
