Seth Meyers is a comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, and television host who currently leads as the host of "Late Night With Seth Meyers." His tenure with the show began in 2014, and since then, it has become one of the most popular and critically acclaimed late-night shows on television.
Before his current hosting role, Meyers was a notable presence on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" from 2001 to 2014. He served as the show's head writer and anchored its news parody segment Weekend Update from 2006 to his departure in 2014. His tenure as Weekend Update anchor saw him co-hosting with Amy Poehler until 2008 and then with Cecily Strong from 2013 to 2014. Besides his roles behind the desk, Meyers also showcased his acting skills, impersonating various figures, including John Kerry, Michael Caine, and Donald Trump Jr.
Meyers graduated from Northwestern University in 1996 with a major in film and television production. His association with Northwestern continued post-graduation as he was the Grand Marshal for the school's homecoming parade in 2011 and later delivered the commencement address at Northwestern's graduation in 2016.
Over the years, Meyers has expanded his portfolio far beyond television. He has appeared in films such as "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "New Year's Eve" and made cameo appearances in TV shows like "The Mindy Project" and "This Is Us." He has also delved into the world of comic books, writing "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween." In 2024, he released the stand-up special "Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking," which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
Recognition for Meyers' work is widespread. He has hosted high-profile events such as the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2011, the Emmy Awards in 2014 and 2018, and the 75th Golden Globe Awards in 2018. His writing and hosting talent have earned him multiple awards, including the Writers Guild of America Awards, a Peabody Award, and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
