Seymour Hersh is widely recognized as a leading investigative reporter with a dedication to unveiling abuses of power in the realm of national security. Over his extensive career, Hersh has garnered numerous accolades including the Pulitzer Prize, multiple George Polk Awards, the Lennon-Ono Peace Prize, and several other awards for his investigative reporting.

Hersh's impactful journalism has shed light on pivotal events such as the My Lai massacre, the CIA's secret bombing in Cambodia, the abusive treatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison, as well as the surveillance activities authorized by Henry Kissinger and the CIA's involvement in Chile under President Salvador Allende. His recent work includes in-depth reporting on the complexities and ramifications of the Iraq war, published in The New Yorker, adding to his reputation for probing critical military and intelligence issues.

Beginning his career as a police reporter at the City News Bureau of Chicago, Hersh's path in journalism led him to roles with UPI and AP. He also contributed to Eugene J. McCarthy’s presidential campaign as a speech writer and press secretary. Joining The New York Times in 1972, Hersh served the publication until 1979 and has since continued as a freelance writer, including stints on special assignment for The New York Times.

Hersh's literary contributions include seven books, which have earned him prestigious awards such as the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Los Angeles Times award for biography. His notable works include "The Price of Power: Kissinger in the Nixon White House," which received the Sidney Hillman award and an Investigative Reporters & Editors prize. His exploration of U.S. foreign policy and Israel's nuclear program in "The Samson Option" also garnered an Investigative Reporters & Editors award.
