Shahadi Wright Joseph is a fourth generation East New York resident and is now the Youngest actor to play Young Nala in the history of the Broadway Cast of Disney’s The Lion King at the age of nine. She began her dance training at Purelements An Evolution in Dance in 2007 (A non-profit founded by her parents, Kevin A Joseph and Dina Wright Joseph and Lakai Worrell). There she studied Classical Ballet, West African, Modern Dance, Hip Hop and Caribbean Dance. She currently attends the Trey Whitfield School also located in East New York where she joined the Voices of Trey Concert Choir in 2012 and maintains a B+ average. When Shahadi is not in the theater she enjoys knitting hats and making videos with sister Sundari Adia Wright Joseph on her tablet. She definitely wants to go for the silver screen at some point, so maybe those videos will come in handy.
