Former Executive Director at March of Dimes

Born to a teenage mother whose drug addiction prevented her from adequately caring for her children, Shane Salter was thrust into parenting his infant brother at the age of four. This cycle of neglect, which was only exacerbated by years in foster care and his becoming a teen dad and single parent, compelled Salter to dedicate his life to child advocacy.

Shane Salter is the Author of "Fostering Hope" and currently the Executive Director of March of Dimes Atlanta. He has over twenty-five years of experience in leadership, advocacy and non-profit management. Most recently, he was the Brand Ambassador for the Charlotte Hornets, an Educator at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Tufts University. Shane is the Founder & Former Executive Director of CASA for Children of DC, Chief of Staff for Health and Human Services, Director of the Freddie Mac Foundation and the National Director of the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities.

He is also president of the Shane Salter for Kids Foundation, where works as a national advocate, consultant, lecturer, seasoned nonprofit executive, and public servant, all for the benefit of neglected and abused children across the nation.

An acclaimed speaker, Shane Salter addresses such topics as becoming a purposeful educator, celebrating children with ADD, and finding yourself when your world falls apart. He shares his journey from abandonment to forgiveness and hope in his riveting memoir, Fostering Hope.

Salter is a veteran of both the US Navy and the Air Force Reserves. He holds undergraduate degrees in healthcare management and human services from Elmira College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, as well as a master's degree is in leadership and management from Webster University.

Shane Salter is the proud father of 3 adult children through birth and 4 children by way of adoption. In other words... Shane is for Kids.
