Sharon Stash is a global health expert and a senior fellow with the Global Health Policy Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In this role, she is organizing an HIV/AIDS Working Group on progress toward an HIV-free Generation, with a particular focus on southern Africa. In addition to her work at CSIS, she is currently advising on the development of a certificate in global health at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) of Georgetown University. Previously, she managed global technical support and knowledge management projects for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) serving as senior technical adviser for the AIDSTAR-One Project at John Snow Incorporated (JSI) and as HIV/AIDS director at Management Science for Health (MSH).

Dr. Stash has extensive experience providing direct technical assistance to foreign governments to draft national HIV/AIDS strategies, develop and implement HIV-prevention frameworks, and support Global Fund processes and proposals. Serving as a program officer, she developed grants portfolios in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health in major foundations, including the Bill & Melinda Gates and David & Lucile Packard Foundations. With graduate training in demography and epidemiology, she has developed and managed evaluation, population-based, and applied research on health interventions. She lived for over six years in India, Pakistan, and Nepal, managing integrated health, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive health programs. She was a member of the UNAIDS Prevention Reference Group and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the National Peace Corps Association. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and her M.Sc. from the Harvard School of Public Health.
