Shelby Knox

Sex Education Advocate; Campaign Director for the ParentsTogether Foundation

Shelby Knox has been privileged to hold several different job titles but, in her heart, she's always been and always will be a feminist organizer. To Knox, organizing is about people making connections between the oppressions they face and those of others and taking action, together, to make the world more just and equitable for everyone.

Over the past decade, she has been a speaker, writer, field organizer, outreach coordinator, and a digital campaign strategist at a major online petition platform. Each role has left her more convinced that the means to impactful, lasting social change is making activism palpable and accessible for folks who’d never use the term ‘activist’ or ‘organizer’ to describe themselves.

The key, in her experience, to sparking that fire is harnessing the power of personal stories to demonstrate the macro and micro impact of injustice and then guiding people to engage in the fight for equality in a way that makes most sense for them, whether that's starting an online campaign, volunteering for a local community group, or sharing their story with just one other person to make them feel less alone.
