Multi-Emmy-award-winning journalist Shelly Slater joined WFAA in 2006. She reports during the day and anchors the 4 PM and 6 PM newscasts. Shelly grew up in Plano, TX, but currently resides in Dallas.

Shelly has taken home multiple Emmy honors for her in-depth reports, "Outstanding Achievement on the Anchor Desk" and for "Breaking News Coverage." She has also won an Edward R. Murrow award for field anchoring.

Shelly graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia Summa Cum Laude. Before coming home, she anchored weekend newscasts in Kansas City, Missouri; Charleston/Huntington, WV; and Columbia, Missouri. Shelly also spent time with the British Broadcasting Company in London.
