Shih-Chung Jessy Kang      

Professor & Deputy Vice-President for Academic Affairs at National Taiwan University

Shih-Chung Jessy Kang, Ph.D., is Deputy Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and a professor in the department of civil engineering at National Taiwan University.

Kang's research focuses on the advanced visual and robotics tools for engineering purposes. He developed multiple methods on the automation and simulation for crane operations.

An active researcher in innovative engineering education, Kang also serves in the Center of Teaching and Learning Development (CTLD) as an associate director at NTU. He is in charge of instructional technologies and the production of open courseware.

Kang offers courses on engineering graphics, game development, data visualization and robotics. His coursera course on engineering graphics was ranked top 2% MOOCs among Chinese learners. He obtained the excellent teaching award and excellent service award from National Taiwan University.

As well, he is the editor-in-chief of Visualization in Engineering. He edited multiple special issues on the topics related to the visualization and robotics applications.

In 2010, he founded Smart Aging Alliance, gathering over 20 professors from engineering, medical, and design backgrounds to develop a systematic approach to cultivate young talent with cross-disciplinary skills. In 2015, Kang and his graduate students established CareDesign Studio, focusing on holistic information services.

Kang received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2005. He has obtained more than 20 patents on intelligent devices and automation in construction.
