Shiro Iwae, P.T., D.O.M., knows how to touch patients and influence their actions for successful rehabilitation. He is enlightening, humorous, engaging and compassionate because he grew up surrounded by inspirational people. He counts among us his influential relatives a physician and published author, a recipient of a congressional and imperial medal of honor for the advancement of Women's Health, a founder of a school from kindergarten through a university and a three time interpreter for Helen Keller.

He has been told he's inspirational by friends. The point was proven when he was being pushed in a wheel chair at the Chicago O'Hare International airport by a Skycab transporter who was apparently having a bad day. She had neither facial expression nor body language to his polite initial greeting at the gate. By the time they arrived to the baggage claim area, she was smiling, conversing and then refusing to take his tips. She smiled and said, "You made my day."

He received his Oriental Medical degree from Tokyo Metropolitan College for the blind, school of Oriental Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from Florida International University, Miami, Florida. He also earned a Master's degree from Florida College of Integrative Medicine in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Iwae now brings nearly three decades of experience to Agency for Community Empowerment (ACE). He inspires and empowers you to be the change you wish to see in yourself.
