Shooter Jennings

Singer-Songwriter

Shooter Jennings is an accomplished musician and record producer with a diverse musical background. As the son of country singers Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, he was introduced to music at an early age, starting to play drums at 5 and guitar at 14. His career began with the formation of an industrial rock band, KilRaven, during his high school years. Later, he moved to Los Angeles in 2001, where he performed with rock band Stargunn until 2003. He then embarked on his solo career, signing his first recording contract with Universal South Records in 2005. His debut single, "4th of July," was released the same year.

Jennings has released seven full-length studio albums, including "Electric Rodeo" and "The Wolf," and has explored multiple genres, reflecting his diverse musical influences - from David Bowie and Pink Floyd to Guns N' Roses and Marilyn Manson. His second solo album, "Electric Rodeo," was released following the success of his debut. It was followed by "The Wolf," which featured collaborations with Doug Kershaw and The Oak Ridge Boys. Besides albums, Jennings has released a live album, a compilation, and numerous EPs. He also took part in CMT Crossroads in 2009, performing duets with Jamey Johnson, and launched the "XXX" movement in 2010, aimed at assisting musicians who struggle to receive mainstream recognition.

In addition to his prolific recording career, Jennings has also made significant contributions as a producer. Notable among his production work is Brandi Carlile's 2018 album "By the Way, I Forgive You," which won three Grammy Awards. He also co-produced Tanya Tucker's 25th album, "While I'm Livin'," which bagged the Grammy for Best Country Album and Best Country Song. As a testament to his versatility, Jennings has hosted "Shooter Jennings' Electric Rodeo" on Sirius XM Outlaw Country channel since 2005 and has created and released a podcast series titled "Beyond the Black" in 2016. His impact extends beyond music, with appearances in TV shows and films, including portraying his father in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.
