Dr. Simon Breakspear works at the intersection of system reform and learning innovation. He is the Executive Director of Learn Labs, an education research and advisory agency that works globally to apply research to support school and system improvement.

Breakspear is also a Research Fellow at The Education University of Hong Kong, and the founder of Agile Schools which enables educator teams to engage in iterative, evidence-informed innovation.

Breakspear’s educational frameworks and tools make complex ideas easier to understand and act on. His speaking and advisory work has given him the opportunity to work with over 100,000 educators across 10 countries. He is also the creator of Learning Sprints, an open-source teacher learning approach used by thousands of educators across the planet to enhance their expertise and impact.

Breakspear holds Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Teaching, a Master’s of International and Comparative Education from the University of Oxford and a PhD in education from the University of Cambridge. Breakspear began his work in education as a high school teacher in Sydney.
