Actor & Comedian; Best Known for Role of Howard Wolowitz on "The Big Bang Theory"

Simon Helberg is an actor, comedian, and musician best known for his role as Howard Wolowitz in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The role won him a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

He started acting in 1999, taking guest roles and small parts, establishing himself as a character performer and able sketch comedian. Solid TV work followed throughout the 2000s until he was cast as Howard Wolowitz in the hit TV comedy The Big Bang Theory in 2007 for which he remains best known.

On the big screen, Helberg has appeared in the Academy Award-nominated films A Serious Man from the Coen Brothers, and Good Night and Good Luck. His other feature film credits include Old School, For Your Consideration and Judd Apatow's Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. In 2016, his role as Cosmé McMoon in the film Florence Foster Jenkins earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

Prior to his work on The Big Bang Theory, Helberg was a regular on the sketch comedy show, MADtv. He was featured in several other critically acclaimed television series, including Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Arrested Development and Reno 911! He also played the role of Moist in the Internet cult sensation, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Simon Helberg was born and raised in Los Angeles but despite this, and the fact that his father is the actor Sandy Helberg and his mother the casting director Harriet B. Helberg, his main interest as a young boy was karate. In his teens, though, he discovered acting and went on to study at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he trained at the Atlantic Theater Company. He is also an accomplished pianist.
