Simon Rogers    

Award Winning Data Journalist, Data Editor at Google; Author of "Facts are Sacred: The Power of Data"

Simon Rogers is an award-winning data journalist, writer and speaker. He is the author of "Facts Are Sacred," published by Faber & Faber in the UK, China and South Korea. He has also written a range of books for children about infographics.

He is based out of San Francisco and is a data editor at Google. Rogers is also director of the Data Journalism Awards and teaches Data Journalism at Medill-Northwestern University. In the past, Rogers taught at the journalism school at the University of California at Berkeley.

At Google he leads the News Lab's newsroom innovation track, building experiments with newsrooms in Artificial Intelligence, AR/VR and data storytelling.

Rogers edited and created guardian.co.uk/data, an online data resource and the first ever news organization data journalism website. Rogers was also the launch editor of the Guardian's first news website and edited the Science Section.

He was also Twitter’s first ever Data Editor, working to tell stories from billions of tweets.

Rogers received the Royal Statistical Society’s award for statistical excellence in journalism and has also been named Best UK Internet Journalist by the Oxford Internet Institute, Oxford University.
