Simone Biles

Most Decorated Gymnast Ever & Record Holder for Most Gold Medals at a Single Olympic Games

Simone Biles is the most decorated gymnast of all time and is considered by many to be the greatest gymnast ever. A part of the gold medal-winning team dubbed the “Final Five” at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles won the individual all-around, vault and floor gold medals that year. She also won a bronze medal for her performance on the balance beam.

After the 2016 Rio Games, Biles co-wrote an autobiography with journalist "Michelle Burford, Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance".

Biles even has tricks named after her: the Biles on vault, which is a round-off on the springboard connected to a half turn onto the vault with two twists; and the Biles on floor, which is her signature double layout half. In August 2019, Biles was the first person to ever complete a triple double in competition when she did so at the 2019 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships.

Biles is the gymnast with the most World medals (25) and most World gold medals (19), having surpassed Scherbo's record 23 World medals by winning her 24th and 25th, both gold, at the 2019 competition in Stuttgart. She is the female gymnast with the most World all-around titles (5). Biles is the sixth woman to win an individual all-around title at both the World Championships and the Olympics, and the first gymnast since Lilia Podkopayeva in 1996 to hold both titles simultaneously. She is the tenth female gymnast and first American female gymnast to win a World medal on every event, and the first female gymnast since Daniela Silivaș in 1988 to win a medal on every event at a single Olympic Games or World Championships, having accomplished this feat at the 2018 World Championships in Doha.

She was awarded the Game Changer of 2019 People's Choice Award.
