Simone Biles

Most Decorated Gymnast Ever & Record Holder for Most Gold Medals at a Single Olympic Games

Simone Biles is the most decorated gymnast of all time and is considered by many to be the greatest gymnast ever. A part of the gold medal-winning team dubbed the “Final Five” at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles won the individual all-around, vault and floor gold medals that year. She also won a bronze medal for her performance on the balance beam.

After the 2016 Rio Games, Simone co-wrote an autobiography with journalist "Michelle Burford, Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance".

Biles even has tricks named after her: the Biles on vault, which is a round-off on the springboard connected to a half turn onto the vault with two twists; and the Biles on floor, which is her signature double layout half. In August 2019, Biles was the first person to ever complete a triple double in competition when she did so at the 2019 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships.

In January 2018, Biles released a statement on Twitter confirming that former USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nasser sexually assaulted her. However, because she was not emotionally ready to face Nasser again, Biles did not attend his hearings.

She was awarded the Game Changer of 2019 People's Choice Award.
