Human Rights Lawyer & Activist

Simone George is a human rights lawyer and activist. At her practice, George works to represent women and their children who are the victims of abuse or violence. George also co-authored the national study "The lawlessness of the home."

In 2016, she co-created an international summit to encourage more leadership in the legal system aimed to help make amendments to domestic violence legislation. The summit became a significant statement of legal, social and political justice in Ireland. George also actively campaigned for marriage equality and reproductive rights in Ireland.

In 2010, her partner, Mark Pollock, broke his back. Together they have embarked on trying to find a cure for paralysis within our lifetime. George has collaborated with scientists and robotics engineers to help find a cure, and was the subject of the award-winning documentary Unbreakable.
