Skylar Diggins-Smith
Professional Basketball Player for the Seattle Storm; Six-Time WNBA All-Star, Four-Time All-WNBA First Team & Two-Time All-WNBA Second Team; Advocate for Equal Pay in the WNBA & NBA
Skylar Diggins-Smith, a well-known name in the world of professional basketball, currently represents the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Throughout her career, she has earned numerous accolades, including six-time WNBA All-Star and four-time All-WNBA First Team. Her talent also led her to the United States national team, where she secured a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Diggins-Smith's early years in the sport were equally commendable, including being named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team during her sophomore year at Notre Dame and setting a school record with 102 steals in her junior year.
Known for her versatility, Diggins-Smith holds the distinction of being the only Notre Dame basketball player to compile 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, and 300 steals in her career. She was drafted 3rd overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2013 WNBA draft and quickly made her mark by being named to the All-Rookie Team. Her breakthrough year was in 2014, when she was named a WNBA All-Star and won the WNBA Most Improved Player Award. Diggins-Smith's resilience and dedication to the sport were evident when she played the entire 2018 season while pregnant, highlighting her commitment to the game.
Beyond her exceptional career in basketball, Diggins-Smith has also ventured into other areas. She signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Storm in February 2024 and will compete in the inaugural season of Unrivaled, a new women's 3x3 basketball league. Diggins-Smith has also made her presence felt on the small screen, with appearances on the TV show "Wild 'n Out" and as a co-executive producer for "Little Ballers Indiana." She also advocates against childhood obesity and has been vocal about equal pay among WNBA and NBA players.
