Innovation & Technology Expert, Philanthropist & Founder of the Causemopolitan

Sloane Davidson is a social entrepreneur, philanthropist and writer who focuses on the intersection of technology and social good. Named a top influencer at the 2010 Clinton Global Initiative and "Top Woman to Follow" on Twitter by Forbes, Sloane's professional experience includes more than 12 years in marketing, business development and fundraising. Sloane is the founder of The Causemopolitan, a blog that encourages giving back. Recently, she wrote and published "The Giving Manifesto."

An active philanthropist, Sloane has raised more than $1.5 million dollars for nonprofits and is currently on the Board of She's The First, an adviser to Resolve Network, and served as Kiva Fellow in the Philippines. A frequent public speaker, Sloane has spoken at SXSW, Social Media Week, the United Nations and more than 25 other leading tech, business and nonprofit conferences.

Sloane has created nationally recognized fundraising campaigns, the most well known being "Cause It's My Birthday," a nationwide malaria prevention campaign. She also created Gulf Coast Benefit, an effort to support Gulf Coast communities after the BP oil spill.

In 2010, Sloane attended the World Economic Forum as the citizen journalist for NewsCorp. She co-founded NOLAlicious, a weekly e-newsletter about New Orleans and organized the first CrisisCampNOLA, as a response to the earthquake in Haiti. Sloane has traveled to Haiti, Ghana, Guatemala and dozens of other states and countries to volunteer and provide strategic communications to nonprofits and NGOs.

The Causemopolitan started as a small idea—create a website that focused on Cause-Filled Living. Over the past five years, it has grown into a media company that includes paid products, networking events, and philanthropy matchmaking for people looking to get involved in causes and nonprofits.

Sloane has been featured in The Chronicle of Philanthropy, CNN, Psychology Today, LA Times, LAWeekly, TechCrunch, Read/Write Web, Mashable, Triple Pundit, among others and has been published in GOOD, PopTech, WhatGives?!, TechCocktail, The Daily Muse and on the official blog for the United Nations.

Before embarking on a new career as a writer and public speaker, Sloane held senior leadership positions at mcgarrybowen and Lippe Taylor. She led social media and digital marketing teams to launch campaigns for leading brands including: JPMorgan Chase, United Airlines, Elizabeth Arden, philosophy, Paul Mitchell, Keds and IKEA. Prior to working with brands, Sloane worked at a startup for social good and as a fundraiser.

Sloane's career began at Ernst & Young where she worked on the Entrepreneur of the Year program. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont.
