Stand-up comedian Stephanie Blum is a former school psychologist from Brooklyn who began her comedy career after winning New Yorks Funniest Teacher contest. This "apathetic mom next door" whose trademark laziness and procrastination is sarcastic, hilarious and universally adored by audiences has come a long way from that Funniest Teacher contest, recently starring in her own pilot for Nickelodeon called “Road Mamas.”
Her path has included winning plenty of “funniest” contests. Ms. Blum took first prize in the Ladies of Laughter Funniest Female competition at Madison Square Garden and was chosen by the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival as their “Breakout Performer.” And she won several episodes of CBS’s "Star Search," becoming a finalist on the series in the comedy category. You may have seen Stephanie on one or more of her many television appearances: HBO’s "Comedy Minutes," Country Music "Television’s Funniest Videos," "Star Search" on CBS, "The Marie Osmond Show" for Hallmark Channel and "Comics Unleashed" with Byron Allen.
Blum performs in clubs, colleges, festivals and casinos all around the country, including such well known venues as Mohegan Sun Casino, numerous clubs in Los Angeles (such as Comedy Store, Improv, Flappers, The Ice House) clubs and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, as well as New York’s famed venues Comic Strip, Carolines, Gotham Comedy Club, The Improv, Stand-Up New York, and many others. She was chosen for the Toyota Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival and the New England Comedy Festival. And needless to say, she's a favorite at any "Mom's Night Out" event.
An article about Stephanie’s life appeared in The New York Times recognizing her talent as a comedian and experience as a psychologist. She became a contributor to Child Magazine, Parents Magazine, The Hot Mom’s Handbook and The Comedy Thesaurus. She also wrote and performed in her one woman show, “When I Cough I Wet Myself” and hosts a weekly radio show on parenting with her husband Greg.
