Stephanie Lheureux
Clinician Investigator & Medical Oncologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Center; Assistant Professor at University of Toronto
Stephanie Lheureux MD, PhD is a Clinician Investigator, Medical Oncologist Site Lead at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and an Assistant Professor University of Toronto. Her Doctoral studies at the University of Caen (France) focused on preclinical evaluation of new targeted therapies in ovarian cancer, awarded the 2014 Prix Mariapia Bressan award from the ARCAGY GINECO cooperative group and the EXON Association PhD award for her preclinical studies.
Her clinical and academic interests are focused in gynecologic cancers and early drug development with an emphasis on translational research and have garnered two American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit awards. She is an expert member of the Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee Ovarian Cancer Task Force at the US National Cancer Institute.
Lheureux received a Career Development Award from the National Cancer Institute. She has written for more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in widely cited journals such as CA: Cancer Journal for Clinicians, Clinical Cancer Research, JAMA Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology and Gynecology Oncology. She is PI or co-PI in several large-scale peer reviewed funding opportunities from the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research and Terry Fox Research Institute that converge preclinical and clinical areas of interest and benefit from her unique expertise in each of these domains.
She is also the recipient of a prestigious ASCO Conquer Cancer Award supporting cutting-edge research into the underlying biology of endometrial cancer treated with immune therapy and targeted therapy. In her spare time, Dr. Lheureux enjoys exploring different regions by way of her bicycle and exploring Canada’s major environmental landmarks.
