Stephen Hadley is a seasoned diplomat and attorney, renowned for his extensive experience in national security and foreign policy affairs. Serving in various critical roles within the U.S. government and the private sector, Hadley has demonstrated profound expertise and leadership in shaping American strategic initiatives.

From January 20, 2001, to January 20, 2009, Hadley served as the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs under President George W. Bush. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role as the principal foreign policy advisor to President Bush, directing the National Security Council staff and overseeing the interagency national security policy development and execution process. His contributions were instrumental in guiding U.S. foreign policy during a period marked by significant global challenges.

Prior to his role as National Security Advisor, Hadley served as the Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005, working closely with then National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, he focused on crucial areas such as U.S.-Russia relations, the Israeli disengagement from Gaza, forging a strategic partnership with India, and advancing ballistic missile defense initiatives.

Before his tenure in the White House, Hadley had a distinguished career in both law and consulting. From 1993 to 2001, he was a partner at the esteemed Washington D.C. law firm of Shea & Gardner (now part of Goodwin Proctor), where he specialized in international transactional matters and represented corporate clients in navigating complex regulatory landscapes. Concurrently, he served as a principal in The Scowcroft Group, a strategic consulting firm led by former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft, where he provided counsel to U.S. corporations on international investments and business ventures.
