Stephen K. Klasko, M.D., M.B.A. is an obstetrician, author, health system leader, university president…and radio/club DJ. He is most proud of the fact that he has been involved in the delivery of over 2,000 babies and has been active in “spinning & streaming music” from the 50s to the 2020s! Along the way he has served as dean of Drexel University College of Medicine and University of South Florida’s College of Medicine and the CEO of their health system.

Most recently he has been the President of Thomas Jefferson University where he merged a 195-year-old academic medical center with a Top-10 design university to reimagine the design of the human experience in healthcare and built the health system from 2 hospitals and $1.5 billion in revenue to 18 hospitals and an insurer with over $9 billion in combined revenue.

During the last five years he has been named #2 in Modern Healthcare’s most influential people in healthcare, among the Top 25 Fast Company “most creative people in business,” an Ernst & Young entrepreneur of the year and has consistently been one of Becker’s top leaders in healthcare.

He has authored or co-authored five previous books ranging from 2000’s "The Phantom Stethoscope" to 2020’s "UnHealthcare: A Manifesto for Health Assurance" with General Catalyst’s Hemant Taneja.

He currently serves as an executive in residence at General Catalyst, North American ambassador for Sheba Medical Center in Israel and as CMO of Abundant Partners. He also serves on the board of directors at Teleflex, a global NYSE medical device company. In 2022, President Biden appointed him to the National Board of Education Sciences.

His wife, Colleen Wyse, is a fashion executive with senior roles at Vogue, W and Glamour. He has three children and five grandchildren.
