Stephen V. Raneri is a Co-founder and Managing Member of LionEye Capital Management, LLC a successful event driven hedge fund based in New York. Mr. Raneri has 16 years of research and portfolio management experience investing in risk arbitrage and event driven situations at several of the world’s leading investment firms. Prior to founding LionEye, Mr. Raneri was a Managing Director of Ramius LLC, where he managed the $750 million North American event driven portfolio as well as overseeing research for arbitrage events. Prior to Ramius, Mr. Raneri co-managed a global risk arbitrage and event-driven portfolio at Soros Fund Management. Mr. Raneri also served as the firm’s energy industry equity analyst. Before Soros, Mr. Raneri was a research analyst at Loeb Partners which managed a global risk arbitrage portfolio. Mr. Raneri started his career at Bankers Trust as a Vice President where he served as the sole research analyst in the firm’s proprietary arbitrage business after being promoted from the firm’s investment bank, where he executed M&A and corporate finance transactions. Mr. Raneri graduated magna cum laude from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1993 with a BS in Economics with a concentration in Finance and Decision Sciences.
