Emmy Award Winning Television Host

Steve Adubato, Ph.D., enjoys a distinguished career as a broadcaster, author, university professor and motivational speaker. A trainer and coach in the areas of communication and leadership skills, Steve also served in the mid 1980’s as New Jersey’s youngest state legislator at the age of 26.

Steve currently anchors two Channel Thirteen/WNET (PBS) broadcasts — Caucus: New Jersey, an Emmy Award-winning public affairs television series, also broadcast on NJN-Public Television; and Inside Trenton, a news program covering New Jersey political issues on a weekly basis.

Steve has been the recipient of four prestigious Emmy Awards for his work on public television. In 1995, 2000 and again in 2001, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Steve with Emmy Awards in the category of “Best Host.”

In addition to his work on public television, Steve has appeared on the TODAY Show, CNN, FOX News, FOX 5 in New York, CNBC, and CBS 2 in New York as a media and communication analyst. He has also provided expert on-air commentary for NPR—National Public Radio. Steve currently provides political commentary on 77-WABC, the #1 talk radio station in the country, as well as WOR-710 AM and has hosted on both networks. Most recently, Steve contributes on a regular basis to CBS 2 “Sunday Morning” and provides political commentary to “Steve Adubato...on Politics” on the CBS 2 Web site.

In addition to his career as a broadcast journalist, Dr. Adubato is a Rutgers University visiting lecturer with a Ph.D. from Rutgers in the field of mass communication and a Masters from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers. He is also a “distinguished visiting professor” at Montclair State University in the field of broadcast journalism. Dr. Adubato’s research and writing has focused on the role of the media in American society and the current state of journalism.

A much sought-after motivational speaker through his company Stand & Deliver, Steve has conducted communication and leadership workshops for a variety of clients in the corporate and non-profit sectors including Wachovia, Prudential, UBS PaineWebber, J.H. Cohn, Merrill Lynch, NASA, Horizon BC/BS and Johnson & Johnson. (A complete list of clients is available upon request). Most recently, New Jersey Monthly magazine named Steve one of the top five most powerful media figures in the state. In the past, New Jersey Monthly selected Steve as one of the “50 Most Interesting People” in the state as well as one of the “25 Most Influential People in the State.”

Steve writes a weekly column focusing on communication and leadership for The Star-Ledger, New Jersey’s most widely circulated newspaper, which reaches over 1 million readers. He is a syndicated columnist who contributes to New Jersey Monthly, the Atlantic City Press, NJBIZ, Commerce Magazine and njvoices.com

Finally, Steve is the author of the books, Speak from the Heart: Be Yourself and Get Results (Simon & Schuster), which was featured in Fortune Magazine, as well as Make the Connection: Improve Your Communication at Work and at Home (Rutgers University Press). His most recent book titled What Were They Thinking? Crisis Communication: The good, the bad and the totally clueless examines highly-publicized and often controversial public relations and media mishaps.
