Two-time Pulitzer Prize Winning Editorial Cartoonist

Steve Breen won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1998 and 2009. His syndicated editorial cartoons appears nationwide and in about 300 papers around the United States. Steve received a degree in political science in 1992 from the University of California at Riverside. He became the editorial cartoonist for the Asbury Park Press (NJ) in 1996 and in 2001, was hired by The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Steve Breen was born in Los Angeles in 1970 and raised in Orange County. In 1992, he graduated from the University of California at Riverside with a degree in political science.

Steve got his start in newspapers at the Asbury Park Press in 1994. He has been the editorial cartoonist for the Union-Tribune since 2001. His work is nationally syndicated by Creators News Service and regularly appears in papers throughout the country. Steve is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning (1998, 2009).

In his spare time, Steve writes and illustrates picture books for Penguin including Stick (2007) Violet The Pilot (2008) The Secret of Santa's Island (2009) and Pug and Doug (2013).

Steve lives in San Diego with his wife and five children. He enjoys reading, running, playing the guitar, watching old movies on Netflix and chatting with his father on the phone.
