Capital Idea is leaving the downtown location it has occupied for 13 years this month to join two other nonprofits in a newly completed East Austin complex.

LifeWorks completed the 31,000-square-foot Sooch Foundation Family Resources Center earlier this year. It sits on six acres at 835 N. Pleasant Valley Road. The center will house LifeWorks, Capital Idea and the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas. The nonprofits share a common goal of getting clients on a path toward education, independence and financial stability.

“We’re excited by the opportunities this will provide for us to more effectively collaborate as we provide a continuum of critical services to our community,” Capital Idea Executive Director Steve Jackobs said in an email. The new location is next door to the Austin Community College Eastview Campus, where many Capital Idea health care participants attend classes.

LifeWorks recently secured a loan for a 45-unit apartment complex on the East Austin campus.
