Steve Kardian is one the nation’s go-to experts on issues of women’s safety, crime prevention and risk reduction. Steve is a national media consultant for Inside Edition, CNN, Fox News, The Morning Show, CBS, NBC, Men’s Journal, the New York Times, Best Life Magazine, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated. Steve Kardian is called upon by the national media to offer solutions and interpretations to many of the nation’s most high profile cases. As a career law enforcement officer, detective, sergeant and chief criminal investigator, Steve has a demonstrated lifelong passion for the issue of personal safety, particularly as it applies to young women. Through his media and consulting work, Steve has helped millions of young men and women better understand their role in preventing sexual assault, dating violence, stalking issues, date rape drugs, crimes against the person and the gift of good intuition. Steve Kardian's vast knowledge on how the predator thinks can be seen in some of his investigative media work with NBC and Inside Edition in which he lured 16 out of 16 women into compromising situations that, if he was real predator, would have compromised each of the women's safety. Steve teaches women how to project themselves as a hard target. His students many "saves" are evidence of his success! 

  Steve has been lecturing on crime prevention, campus safety, and women’s safety for 25 years. Prominent martial artists and educators travel from across the nation and Europe to learn Steve’s Women’s Empowerment program. He has also been invited to lecture and teach the Executive Division of the Governors office for the State of New York.  Steve is one of a small group of Americans to hold the rank of Black Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, one of the most prestigious and effective martial arts in the world today. Steve was also recently appointed to the Westchester County Victims Assistance advisory board where he continues to assist crime victims in their various stages of recovery. Steve also lectures across the country at colleges and universities.

Steve Kardian has been teaching to police officers since 1980. Steve has taught international, federal, state, county and local law enforcement officers on the East and West coast of the United States and in Europe. His students have included members of the FBI, DEA, US Treasury Department, NY State Police, Army Rangers, Navy Seals, the DELTA forces, London’s Metropolitan Police, Ireland’s Garda Siochana, and the Israeli Security Agency under the Prime Minister’s Office. Steve is a certified New York State/FBI defensive tactics instructor. He also holds State certification as a general topics instructor, T.A.S.E.R. instructor, chemical weapons and pepper spray instructor, use of force instructor, baton instructor and a radar/laser instructor. Steve was a senior instructor at the Westchester County Police Academy teaching defensive tactics, interactive skills and how to become an effective supervisor among other subjects.

 Steve is the founder of the Less Than Lethal program which teaches tactics and ground control for law enforcement. He is currently working on a committee with the Office of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice, for the State of New York to evaluate and submit changes in the way recruits and Defensive Tactics Instructors across the State of New York are trained and taught. He is also a certified consultant for the NYS Dept of Criminal Justice.
