Steve Kerr, entering his tenth season as the Golden State Warriors' head coach, boasts a remarkable NBA career with numerous achievements. Under his guidance, the team has secured four NBA championships and made six NBA Finals appearances. With a playoff record of 99-41, Kerr holds the highest winning percentage among NBA coaches with at least 25 postseason games. He has been named one of the 15 Greatest Coaches in NBA History.
Selected as the 2022-24 USA Basketball Men’s National Team head coach, Kerr led the USA national team to the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where they placed fourth, and will guide the team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Kerr's coaching career began with unprecedented success, including leading the Warriors to three consecutive seasons with at least 65 wins, setting an NBA record. His coaching prowess has earned him various accolades, including the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2015-16.
Kerr played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. He was a two-time first-team all-conference player in the Pac-10 (now known as the Pac-12) and earned All-American honors as a senior. Selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft, Kerr played 15 seasons in the NBA. He won five NBA championships as a player -- three with the Chicago Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs -- and retired as the all-time NBA leader in single-season three-point shooting percentage and career three-point shooting percentage. Over his long career in the NBA, Kerr accumulated nine championships, the first to win at least three titles as both a player and coach.
Kerr has also been a TV analyst for "NBA on TNT" and the president of basketball operations and general manager of the Phoenix Suns.
Off the court, Kerr advocates for gun safety laws and supports organizations like the Brady campaign, Sandy Hook Promise, March For Our Lives, and Giffords. He is also involved in fundraising for Oakland Promise, aiming to increase high school graduates' college completion in Oakland.
Kerr has a degree in general studies with an emphasis on history, sociology, and English from the University of Arizona.
