Steve Pagliuca
Managing Director, Bain Capital, LLC Co-Owner and Managing General Partner, Boston Celtics
Steve Pagliuca is a Managing Director at Bain Capital, a leading global investment firm based in Boston. Mr. Pagliuca joined Bain & Company in 1982 and founded the Information Partners venture capital fund for Bain Capital in 1989. As a Managing Director of Bain Capital, he has worked with his partners to help build one of the world’s leading investment companies with over US$65 billion in assets under management. He has been an active investor in the media, financial services and healthcare industries. Mr. Pagliuca is also Co-Owner and Managing General Partner of the World Champion Boston Celtics. As a Managing Partner and Chairman of the Basketball Committee, he has focused on the development and improvement of the basketball operations. Mr. Pagliuca is also President of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. The Shamrock Fund helps children gain access to housing, healthcare and other services in partnership with local charities. The Shamrock Foundation has become a leader in community outreach in professional sports. Mr. Pagliuca also serves as the Chairman of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, a nonprofit society with a legacy of strengthening families and preventing child abuse. Mr. Pagliuca is also a member of the HBS Healthcare Initiative Advisory Board, the MGH President’s Council, the Harvard Kennedy School Dean’s Council and is a Trustee of Bain Capital Children’s Charity, the firm’s initiative to support children’s causes. In 2005, Mr. Pagliuca received the Bright Star Award from President Bill Clinton in recognition of his charitable activities; and in 2010, he received the American Dream Award from Habitat for Humanity for outstanding contributions to enhancing the Greater Boston Community. Mr. Pagliuca has been active in the area of public policy. He is a former candidate for the U.S. Senate and currently serves as a member of the Democratic National Advisory Committee. He is a frequent contributor on television, radio and print media to provide commentary focusing on global economic issues. Mr. Pagliuca has also lived and worked in The Netherlands as a Senior Accountant and International Tax Specialist for Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company where he earned a Certified Public Accountant certificate. Mr. Pagliuca received a B.A. from Duke University where he also played freshman basketball, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
