As the inventor of the prepaid debit card industry and the founder and Chairman of Green Dot Bank, Steve is a pioneer in the financial services industry and is a passionate advocate for America's low and moderate income communities. Since its founding in 1999, Green Dot has grown to become the nation’s largest provider of reloadable prepaid debit cards and is a leader in mobile banking and financial technology.

Steve has been recognized for numerous industry awards, including the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2005 Southern California Award and the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 National Financial Services Award. He has also been honored with numerous industry awards in both the financial services space and technology space.

Steve focuses his philanthropic efforts on low income single moms and their children through his family charity, Patti’s Way, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. As such, he has received numerous humanitarian awards in recognition of his efforts.

Steve enjoys large families and is a father of 7 children, 5 of which were adopted. He lives in Pasadena, CA.
