In April, 2008, Mr. Steven G. Swant (Steve) was appointed the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Reporting to the President, Steve is responsible for administration and coordination of business and financial functions. Steve serves as the Chief Business and Financial Officer of Georgia Institute of Technology and oversees all administrative, business, financial, facility and budget activities.

A member of the Office of the President with the President, Provost and Executive Vice President for Research, and a member of the Presidents' Cabinet, Steve participates on numerous Institute and Chancellor/Board of Regents committees and councils. He is a board member of the Georgia Tech Research Corporation, the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, Georgia Tech Facilities, Inc., Georgia Tech Ireland and the Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures Corporation.

Upon completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Riverside and Masters of Arts in Architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles, he obtained positions at prominent national facilities management and planning firms. In 1984, Steve accepted a position in the Chancellor's Office at UCLA. His career at UCLA included a variety of progressive assignments related to institutional planning and budgeting and the long-range capital improvement program. In June 1993, Steve relocated to Seattle, Washington to assume the role of Director of Capital and Space Planning at the University of Washington. At UW, he directed planning and administrative activities and processes related to the development of the University's capital program.

In September 1996, Steve accepted the position of Associate Vice President, Budget and Planning, at Georgia Institute of Technology. In this capacity, he had responsibilities related to the Institute's operating and capital budget development and administration, institutional data analysis and strategic planning, as well as coordinating various staff support functions to the Office of the President. Steve assumed the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance in April 2006.

He is married to the former Deborah Kay Huss (Debbie) and they have a daughter, Stephanie.
