Music editor, composer and educator, Steven Saltzman has a diverse background, reflecting his many interests in the field. Saltzman has been music editing for over twenty years with a Golden Reel award and seven Golden Reel nominations. With over ninety films and television shows to his credit, some recent feature film work includes: Lansky, Mary, The Package, 24 Hours to Live, The Revenant, and Tides of Fate, a David Ellison documentary. He has worked with many composers, including, Tyler Bates, Klaus Badelt, Laura Karpman, Bryce Dessner, Mark Mothersbaugh, Pinar Toprak, and Nathan Furst. Saltzman has published two books on music editing: "Music Editing for Film and Television, The Art and The Process" and his recent release, "The Music of Film, Collaborations and Conversations". He enjoys teaching music editing and post production music for composers in the Film Scoring Certificate Program at UCLA Extension and recently at American Film Institute for editors and filmmakers.
Saltzman lectures and presents internationally and domestically for various institutions, including California State University, USC, Chapman University, Berklee College of Music, AVID ACI instructor Summit, Cilect North America Sound Conference, Edinburgh Napier University, Savannah Film Festival, University of Colorado, Los Angeles Film School, Southern California University Northridge, Cal Arts, workshops at the Motion Picture Editors Guild, California State Polytechnic University, Ex’pression College, Minneapolis Media Institute, and The Society of Composers & Lyricists. He is honored to be a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and sits on the advisory council of the Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance. Saltzman served on the board of the of the Motion Picture Sound Editors for 16 years, and is a long-time member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and the Society of Composers and Lyricists. He earned a Bachelor of Music in composition and film scoring from Berklee College of Music in Boston and composed numerous films and television scores.
