Steven Kotler

NY Times Best-Selling Author, Innovation Leader & Peak Performance Expert; Director of Research for the Flow Genome Project

Steven Kotler is a New York Times best-selling author, an award-winning journalist, and the Co-founder & Director of Research for the Flow Genome Project. He is one of the world's leading experts on ultimate human performance. In addition to his work with the Flow Genome Project, Kotler has co-founded the Rancho de Chihuahua dog sanctuary in New Mexico, an experience that inspired his book "A Small Furry Prayer."

His work spans multiple genres and topics, from non-fiction to novels, and it has been translated into over 40 languages and has appeared in 80 publications, including the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, Forbes, Wired, and TIME. Moreover, he has written for Forbes and Psychology Today, covering a range of topics from technology to the science of sport and culture. Regular appearances on television and radio and lectures at corporate and educational institutions like Google, JP Morgan, Omnicom Media, and Menlo Ventures are also part of his professional portfolio.

Kotler announced his book "The Rise of Superman" in 2014, which quickly became one of the most talked about books that year. It was the first book in history to chart simultaneously in four different categories on national best-seller lists (sports, science, psychology, and business). In it, Kotler decodes the science of flow, an optimal state of peak performance where the impossible becomes possible—with critical implications in business, education, technology, and society as a whole.

His other books have explored the intersection of human capabilities, technology, and consciousness. "Abundance" breaks down four emerging forces that give humanity the potential to significantly raise global standards of living over the next 20 to 30 years. It spent 10 weeks atop the New York Times best-seller list and appeared on four prestigious "Best Book of the Year" lists. His book "Bold", co-authored with Peter H. Diamandis, discusses the exponential advancement of technology and how entrepreneurs can thrive in such an environment. Kotler's literary contributions also include the books "West of Jesus" and "Stealing Fire," the latter co-authored with Jamie Wheal, and extending his exploration of the concept of "flow states."

In addition to his non-fiction work, Kotler has also written novels such as "The Angle Quickest for Flight," "Last Tango in Cyberspace," and "The Devil's Dictionary," showcasing his versatile writing skills. His best-selling novel, "The Angle Quickest For Flight," won the William L. Crawford IAFA Fantasy Award.

Together with his wife, author Joy Nicholson, Steven Kotler continues to manage Rancho de Chihuahua, a dog sanctuary in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. His efforts in writing and his contribution to human performance science have garnered him awards and recognition, including being a New York Times bestselling author multiple times.
