Suncera

She is currently a freelance writer for Rolling Out Magazine and The Gatekeepers Post, while developing a workshop based on the Opening Doors.

While watching "The Wiz" as a young woman, Suncera aka That Writing Chic was moved to tears during the performance of "Brand New Day." When asked by her mother what was wrong, she replied "I should have been there to help them make this, I bet it was so much fun"! While her mom thought she wanted to be an actress, something stirred deep within' Suncera that took many years and multiple careers to manifest.

After working in the copyright & licensing division of Atlantic Records, becoming a Paralegal specializing in entertainment contract law, assisting in setting up several independent music labels and consulting with various artists, while dealing with heavy weight music industry attorneys she realized the potential of her business acumen.

Landing a temp job at Spike TV proved to be the launching pad to what had been missing her entire life, fusing the creative and business sides. While an Executive Assistant assisting in projects such as licensing for the initial Rock Band game, Suncera created, developed and produced a one hour special, "The Faces of MTV", which featured interviews with insiders such as Tim Kash, Sway, and others who told what the inner workings of the network are like. That tenacity catapulted her directly from Executive Assistant to Associate Producer.

Having worked on such shows as "The Hills", "The City", "Man & Wife", "T.I's Road to Redemption", and more, as a Producer/Editor, Suncera was able to develop added value content for DVD's and network websites. More importantly throughout her tenure at Spike TV & MTV Networks, she learned television from A to Z; from crafting an idea into a pitch, to creating one-sheets for ad sales to obtain revenue for the network, creating budgets, assembling a crew, and following a project from beginning to air date.

Having recently completed working on Season 11 of "The Celebrity Apprentice", Suncera continues to share her knowledge as Producer and Host of "Musings of A Muse" on Blogtalk radio. Whether it is how to land a job as a freelance writer, defining what a magazine editor does, or identifying the best way to land a job in the television industry, she educates her audience with the help of professionals that they would not otherwise have access to.

On her blog, she chronicles steps she takes and lessons learned on her journey to success, while providing a forum for those seeking support to do the same.

Joining twitter simply to find out what the buzz was all about, she quickly found an audience. Daily readers have come to expect her "Dear God" prayers and bite-sized inspiration, so much so that they secured her a top finalist spot in the 2011 Black Weblog Awards!

Her debut e-book Opening Doors: Getting Connected is based on her experiences in the entertainment industry, but, serve as foundations for getting ahead in any industry.

While the country is knee-deep in a recession and she was constantly turned away as being "over qualified", she's learned how to recreate herself with the help of social media. Learn about the power of social media and the art of what she refers to as (re)creation: Rebranding yourself for the career you REALLY want.

In addition, Suncera is a survivor of Domestic Violence. She recently shared her story on her blog and has been openly speaking about it since.
