Sunisa Lee

2020 Olympic Women's Gymnastics Gold Medalist

Sunisa Lee is an accomplished artistic gymnast and part of the United States women's national gymnastics team. She was a pivotal member of the team that clinched gold at the 2019 World Championships, where she also won silver on the floor exercise and bronze on the uneven bars. She won three medals at the USA Gymnastics National Championships during her first year as a senior elite gymnast, including a national title on the uneven bars. She made her international senior debut at the 2019 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy, where she won the all-around title.

Lee qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics as a main team competitor, becoming the first Hmong American Olympian. She emerged as the first Asian American woman to win the all-around Olympic title. Accomplishments at the Olympics also include a bronze in the uneven bars final. Her performance at the Olympic Trials was stellar, placing her second behind Simone Biles and automatically qualifying her for the Olympic team alongside Biles, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum. In recognition of her historic Olympic success, she was honored with "Sunisa Lee Day" by the governor of Minnesota and the mayor of St. Paul.

Post-Olympics, Lee registered for classes at Auburn University and made a significant impact on their gymnastics team, winning several accolades and even scoring a perfect 10 in her collegiate career. However, she chose to end her college gymnastics career early due to a kidney condition and is now focusing on training for the 2024 Olympics. Apart from her impressive gymnastic feats, she also entered the world of reality TV, appearing on season 30 of "Dancing with the Stars".
