Susan Cantrell is a research fellow with the Accenture Institute for High Performance. She specializes in conducting original research and providing innovative thought leadership in the area of talent management, with a specific focus on how changes digital technologies are creating new opportunities for companies to better attract and retain talent as well as improve the performance of their workforce.

Ms. Cantrell is an award-winning author whose work has been featured in over fifty book chapters or articles for business publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Forbes, Financial Times, Harvard Business Review, The Economist, New York Times, and HR publications like HR Magazine and Talent Management. She is a coauthor of Workforce of One: Revolutionizing Talent Management Through Customization (Harvard Business Press, 2010). The book is about how companies can successfully customize their talent management practices for their employees to achieve better workforce performance and improved business results. Currently, Ms. Cantrell is working on projects exploring how the HR function will need to be reshaped for the future in light of recent business and technology trends, as well as how emerging digital technologies are impacting the future of work. Ms. Cantrell has also developed new tools and offerings in the talent management space, such as a tool that measures the impact of human capital on business results.
